Happy New (School) Year!

Guess which grades they're going into :)
Published on September 6, 2021

I was looking for a 2022 calendar and came across ‘academic calendars’ that begin in September. It made me think whether or not my year begins in September or January. I came to the conclusion that, maybe, it’s a bit of both.

For much of my life, the beginning of September meant a definite end to summer and a return to my friends and the world of school/college/seminary.

In later years, it was the annual return as a high school counsellor.

No matter when our year begins, time moves on … whether we want it to, or not.

For me, this summer has included: some major birthdays, a wonderful family gathering, swimming with ducks and geese and kiddos, taking a weaving course, and taking some time off. All this has contributed to recalibrating my life.

The challenge is to intersperse such rejuvenating activities throughout the year, rather than operate in over-drive for ten months and flake out the other two [note to self ].

What might you consider doing to make the coming year more balanced?
